CHARLES E. FRASER

Charles E. Fraser, 92 of Tucson, Ariz., passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Detroit on Mar. 10, 1922, to the late Sadie and Charles R. Fraser.

Charles graduated from Rogers City High School in 1940. He enlisted into the Navy in Aug. 1942, his tour of duty was Grosse Isle Naval Air Station, Grosse Isle. In 1944 he reported to the BB63 in San Francisco where he served aboard the USS Missouri until Jan. 1946. He received the Good Conduct Metal, Asiatic Pacific Metal and three battle stars; World War II Victory Metal, American Campaign Metal and the Navy Occupation Service Metal. He achieved the rating of 2/C Boatswain Mate and was honorably discharged in Jan. 1946.

Charles returned to Alpena to join his father and brother, Earl Fraser, in the Fraser Plumbing and Heating business.

In July 1947, Charles married Geraldine Frantz in Alpena. They had two daughters, Susan Jane and Mary Anne, both deceased.

The moved to Tucson in 1959 where he joined the Plumbers and Fitters Local 741 until he retired in 1984. He was a life time member of Elks Lodge #2532, Alpena-Hopper Lodge #199 Masonic Order and the Scottish Rite 32Deg.

Charles will be missed by his wife Geraldine (Gerry) of 67 years; his former son-in-law William A. Rucker Jr. and Diane V. Rucker; granddaughters Rebekah, Suzie and Gabriella; grandson Joseph.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Earl and daughters, Susan and Mary Anne.

Charles has two nieces from Alpena, Judy Fraser (Allen) Douglas and Nancy Fraser (Robert) Stachnik; brother-in-law Bud Frantz and nephew Tom Frantz both of Alpena.

Services will be Saturday Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Streams of the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E. Pima. Burial will follow with Masonic Honors at the East Lawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Tucson, Ariz.
