Alfred (Al) Thomas Lynch, 80, of Alpena, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 20, 2014, at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

Alfred was born in Detroit on Sept. 15, 1933, to the late Albert and Agnes (Polak) Lacz. In 1962 he moved to a farm in Carleton where he lived and farmed full time. On Feb. 4, 1967, he married the former Bozena Bator at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck. Moving to a farm in Lachine, he grew sweet corn and pumpkins. Al was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Farm Bureau, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and McDonald’s coffee. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for Alpena Senior Citizens. Al was a great husband, father and dziadzia.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Bozena; a daughter, Cindy (Allan) Tolan; three sons, Michael (Carol) Lynch, Richard (Lisa) Lynch, Daniel (Laura) Lynch; two granddaughters, Sophie, Eleanora (Elli), two stepgrandsons, Benjamin, Devin; sister, Wanda Skolarus; two sisters-in-law, Stella Loncz, Florence Lynch; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle; brothers, Stanley, John, Walter, Phillip, and Ted.

Mr. Lynch is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Friday from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Rev. Rolando Silva officiating.
