Church invites Comstock Fund grant applications from community groups

First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alpena invites non-profit agencies and organizations to apply for grants from its Andrew Comstock Fund.

The Comstock Fund supports programs that render service to all people and strives for righteousness, justice, and peace in keeping with the church’s stated purpose.

Applications must be submitted on the church’s form by Oct. 1 for consideration of grants to be dispensed in January 2015.

Those interested should go to the church’s web-site at uccalpena.org for Comstock Fund guidelines and forms.

Application forms are also available by mail by contacting the church at 201 S. Second at 356-1795 or by email at officeuccalp@frontier.com.

The fund was begun in 1987 with a bequest from former Alpena native Andrew Comstock, whose family was active at First Congregational many years ago and appreciated the support and community service provided by the church.
