Museum wins Facebook contest
After 10 days of a continuous votes from Facebook users in our communities, the Besser Museum of Northeast Michigan has won $500 from the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan through CFNEM’s fourth annual Facebook contest.
Eight local nonprofits submitted proposals for the contest which were then posted on CFNEM’s Facebook page. During the last 10 days of July, voters could review the eight applications and vote for their favorite by liking the proposal of their choice.
When it was all said and done, Besser Museum garnered the most votes. The $500 grant will be used to offset costs for providing a “Welcome Home Weekend” for Vietnam Veterans in late September. This event coincides with the current Vietnam War Tribute Exhibit and the arrival of the Michigan Vietnam Memorial Wall which will be at Besser Museum Sept. 26-28.
