Mrs. Miriam June Johnson, age 85, of Newberg Twp., went to be with her Lord late Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 19, 1929 in Alpena, Mich., the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Richardson) Cole.

Miriam honorably served her country in the U.S. Air Force during the end of the Korean Conflict. On June 25, 1955 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Conrad James Johnson who survives. Miriam and Conrad have been long time members of the Howardsville Gospel Chapel where she was very active. Miriam volunteered for the Cass County C.O.A. for fifteen years, A.W.A.N.A., and was a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid gardener and seamstress, loved cooking and especially taking care of people.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, and one grandson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband of 59 years, Conrad Johnson; one daughter, Debra (David) Mader, of Jones, Mich.; two sons, Keith (Gloria) Johnson, of Winfield, Ill., and Ted (Bobi) Johnson, of Genoa, Ill.; one sister Shirley (John) Lauretic, of Wis.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 at the Howardsville Gospel Chapel, with Pastor Sheldon Combs officiating.
