Many records were broke at this year’s Hubbard Lake tri

HUBBARD LAKE- sThe Hubbard Lake Triathlon featured three different events run by dozens of runners from across the state. This year, Kent Frantz won the men’s Olympic Triathlon (a 0.93 mile swim, a 22.5 mile bike ride and a 6.2 mile run) with a time of 2:19.17.

Frantz time is 10 minutes faster than last year’s runner. Frantz has been training for the Hubbard Lake Triathlon three to four days a week for nearly a year.

Tess Bradley won the women’s Olympic Triathlon with a time of 3:37.35. This was her first ever triathlon.

Mark Lieber won the men’s Sprint Triathlon (a 0.47 mile swim, a 12 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run) with a time fo 1:13.15. Lieber won the Hubbard Lake Olympic Triathlon last year. He actually competed with his father in this year’s Sprint event.

Christine Deuling won the women’s Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:23.18.

The men’s 22.5 mile bike race was won by Bill Braamse with a time of 58.12 while the women’s race was won by Melaine Bowie with a time of 1:11.31.

Bowie competed in last year’s cycling race and shaved 13 minutes off her record. She finished seven minutes faster than last year’s women winner.
