Auxiliary celebrates another successful year
At the Alpena Regional Medical Center Auxiliary’s annual banquet, members reflected over the past year. The auxiliary’s 173 active members gave 32,307 hours of service to the hospital in 2013. ARMC volunteers range in age from 14 to 92 years.
Karmon Bjella, ARMC CEO, and Marlene Pear, director of volunteer services, offered their accolades to the volunteers for their countless hours of volunteering and fundraising they bring to the hospital each year. During the banquet, service awards were presented.
“We appreciate your hours of service to the hospital and the funds you donate that help us provide services for our patients,” Bjella said. “We are a stronger organization thanks to your generosity.”
In addition to the auxiliary’s time, auxiliary President Delilah Tretinik presented a $15,000 check to Karmon Bjella, for a total of $85,000 donated this year.
Auxiliary members received recognition pins for the star performers (those with over 200 hours in 2013), their 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 years of service to the ARMC Auxiliary and total hours of service.
Pear thanked the officers for their continued dedication to the board. The current board includes Delilah Tretinik, president; Donna Strassel, counselor; Yvonne Rondeau, vice president of membership; Darlene Sommerfeld, recording secretary; Jeanne Nowak, corresponding secretary; Geri Lasecki, treasurer; and Helen Buszka and Jan Artley as members at-large.
“It is a pleasure to see everyone tonight; I think this is the largest group to attend a recognition dinner. Thank you for your time, talents, and dedication,” Pear said.
