Alpena 12U and 10U lose first regional games

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY-The Alpena 12U Cal Ripken baseball team fell 4-0 in its first game of the regional playoffs against Cumberlain Kentucky.

Aidan Goike pitched four innings and struck out six, walked three and gave up only two hits.

Cumberlain capitalized on two Alpena errors to score two runs and picked up a two RBI hit to score.

“It was a great game, they were a team that just capitalized on the breaks. We left eight man on base today,” coach Chris Limback said.

Alpena was led offensively by Colby Plowman and Kyle Vandussen with two singles.

Alpena 12U plays two games today. They play at 10 a.m. against Honorsville, Indiana and at 4 p.m. against Homewood, Illinois.

The 10U team lost it’s first game 9-2 against Southeast Lexington. No results form the 16U game were reported at press time.
