Cirque Amongus to perform at Alcona library

HARRISVILLE – The Alcona County Library Harrisville Branch will present a free afternoon of entertainment for all ages on Tuesday. Cirque Amongus will perform a show of magic, juggling, skits and interactive audience participation. This performance is to celebrate and wrap up the 2014 children’s summer reading program, “Fizz Boom Read.”

Library Director Carol Luck hopes for an exciting ending to the science-themed summer. Cirque Amongus will connect its act to the reading program’s science theme by sharing the science behind circus and magic stagecrafts.

“Making science exciting is what this year has been about,” Luck said.

Other themes will include teaching about cooperation and perseverance.

Cirque Amongus is a Livonia-based company led by professional entertainers and instructors who work to introduce juggling and other circus skills in a fun and educational environment. They offer hands-on programs and performances meant to build self-esteem, motor skills and to promote team-building skills.

Luck said the library previously has worked to get the performance to the local area but, due to scheduling, was unable to finalize a performance. She was pleased to have been able to work out the schedule this year in order to bring a new opportunity to the community.

The event begins at 1:30 p.m. For further information call the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, 724-6796.
