David Edmund Lipski, 85, of Ossineke, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

David was born in Alpena on May 12, 1929, to the late John and Clara (Grzendzicki) Lipski. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1948 and worked at Douville and Marceau bakeries, and the Maltz and Lyric Theaters. Later he worked for Silver Moving and Storage and then at Everett F. Smith. In 1950 he entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Korean War, returning in 1952. David married the former Esther E. Liske on Oct. 8, 1955, at St. Mary Catholic Church. After coming home from military service, he worked at Besser Company for 39 years, retiring in 1992.

David liked working in his yard. He also enjoyed the outdoors with family outings in his boat to Lake Huron, Grand Lake, Hubbard Lake, and Long Lake; and in the winter he enjoyed snowmobiling with his family and friends. David enjoyed golfing with his sons, David and Darrell, who affectionately named him “The Dude.” He also loved hunting and camping with his buddy and son-in-law, Bill, for over 22 years.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Esther; daughter, Debbie (Bill) Johnson; two sons, David (Barbara Livernois) Lipski, Darrell (Lynette) Lipski; five grandchildren, Brandon Clements, Lisa (Doug) McCrimmon, Jonathan, Ryan and Nathan Lipski; two great-grandchildren, Kohan and Cole McCrimmon; one brother, Thomas Lipski; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Florian and Raymond Lipski; and his sister, Gertrude Filipiak.

Per his wishes, he has been taken for cremation. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, July 26, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 12 noon with Rev. Joseph Llewellyn officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
