PIGS Tourney kicks off today in Rogers City
The middle of July means it’s time once again for the PIGS Tournament in Rogers City.
The Presque Isle Panthers travel softball program is hosting the fifth annual tournament with games starting today and continuing through Sunday. Games will be played at Gilpin Field, Sports Park and the Rogers City Little League fields.
Concessions will be available at Gilpin Field.
For the second straight year, there will be three divisions-14U, 16U and 18U and this is the second year that the tournament will feature a 14U division. Six teams will compete in the 14U and 16U divisions and four teams will compete in the 18U division.
In the 14U division, Alpena will have two teams, the ThunderCats Green and ThunderCats White team. Last year, two Alpena teams, the Shock and the ThunderCats reached the final with the Shock winning 7-1. Those teams will be joined by two PI Panthers teams, Line Drive Gold and Petoskey Blaze.
In the 16U division, the Moran Vulcans will try and defend their title after beating the Northern Heat last year. The Vulcans will be joined by the Boyne Bandits, Great Lakes Heat, Clio Mustangs, Alpena ThunderCats and Toxic 16U.
In the 18U division, the PI Panthers will look to avenge a loss in last year’s championship game and will be joined by the Drillers, the Predators and Great Lakes Heat.
