Albert P. Talaska, age 78, died July 15, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Albert was born on Aug. 1, 1935 in Alpena to the late Frank and Martha (Filarski) Talaska. He married Florence Krajniak on Sept. 25, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alpena. Albert worked as a kiln operator at National Gypsum until 1986 and retired from Lafarge in 1991. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cultivating his apple orchards and fields at his beloved “Al-Flo’s Retreat” hunting camp. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.

Albert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Florence; two children, Frank Talaska of Alpena and Judy (Gordie) Brege of Alpena; four grandchildren, Josh (Kathleen), Nichole and Lacy Talaska, and Bryanna (Collin) Beyer; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Talaska and Molly Beyer; one sister-in-law, Blanche Sucharski of Alpena and several nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Louis and Raymond Klein; and one brother-in-law, Leo Sucharski.

Per his wishes, Albert has been taken by the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for cremation. Friends and family will gather at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The memorial service will be Friday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. Jim Kendziorski officiating.

Inurnment: Pilgrims Rest Cemetery
