James R. “Jim” of Clio, formerly Alpena, age 83, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his residence surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Contributions may be made to Hospice Advantage of Michigan.

Jim was born on Jan. 24, 1931, in Flint, Mich., to the late Evelyn Leeck (Grablick) and was raised by his late aunt, Martha Diemond from age 1. Martha was known as “Mom” to Jim and grandma by her grandchildren. He was a 1949 graduate of Alpena High School and was a member of the marching band. Jim married Rosemary Derry on Sept. 16, 1950, in Rogers City, Mich. They enjoyed 63 years together. Mr. Leeck retired from Buick in 1990 with over 40 years seniority and was a member of the UAW local #599. He was also a member of the Clio F.O.E #3609. Jim enjoyed hunting, golfing, and building houses. His current residence he built with his wife, Rosemary. Above all, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids and friends. He was a great father and will be missed.

Surviving are: wife, Rosemary Leeck of Clio; son, Bradford Leeck (Olga Delgado) of Lansing; daughter, Roz Leeck (Mae Zion) of Fenton; five grandchildren, Shanna (Jason) Bayush, Brooke Leeck, Lyndsay (Alexis) Rodriguez, Lauren and Lindsey Zion; five great-grandchildren, Graciana, Garrett and Olivia Rodriguez, Lainey Bayush, Chase Leeck; half-brother, Tom (Linda) Grablick.
