Randall Dean Berg, age 55 of Hawks, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, July 13, 2014 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

He was born Dec. 17, 1958, in Rogers City to James and Kathryn (Taylor) Berg.

Randy graduated from Rogers City High School then went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Master’s Degree in the Arts. He was currently employed at the Lafarge/Stoneport Limestone Quarry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and summer jeep riding. He especially enjoyed fishing off the dock with his granddaughter, Lexi.

Randy is survived by his son, Allan (Jodi) Berg of Rogers City; six grandchildren, Abbi, Lexi, Caleb, Isaac, Taylor, and Danielle; mother, Kathryn Berg of Hawks; two sisters, Debra (Steve) Truran of Hawks and Barbara (David) Adams of Kentucky; two brothers, Jim (Cheryl) Berg of Lansing and Kevin (Maureen) Berg of Alpena, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. visitation will resume on Thursday at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Belknap, from 10 through time of funeral at 11 a.m. with Pastor Keith Schneider officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Michael Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Michael Lutheran Church of Belknap, St. Michael Christian Education Fund, or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
