NEMCSA recognizes Senior Companion Volunteers with 29th annual luncheon

Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency, Inc. held its 29th annual Recognition Luncheon for the Senior Companion Volunteers on June 26 at The Sanctuary Inn in Alpena.

Volunteers were joined by site supervisors, friends and family to celebrate a combined total of 376 years of service. Each volunteer received a certificate of appreciation for their years of service.

Joining the volunteers were NEMCSA staff and several NEMCSA board members. Other guests in attendance included legislative representatives from the offices of Sen. Carl Levin, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Rep. Dan Benishek and Sen. John Moolenaar.

Senior Companion volunteers serve seniors in need of assistance, support and companionship to remain independent. For seniors age 55 and over interested in volunteer opportunities offered by NEMCSA volunteer programs, call Wanda at 358-4639 or (877) 222-9043.

NEMCSA volunteer programs staff also will be available at the Alpena County Library with information concerning the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Volunteer Programs on July 16th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
