DCCW East Region installs new officers
The East Region of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women was recently held at St. Ignatius Parish. A total of 46 ladies attended with seven being first time attendees and 12 celebrating birthdays in June, July and August. They all received appreciation gifts. Nine different parishes were represented.
A “Living Rosary” was conducted at the church by the attendees. President Angie Yarch performed the installation of officers in the absence of their parish priest.
The new president is Linda Stemen, with Kathy Talaske as vice president, June Duby as treasurer, Jacqui Smith as secretary and Rosemary Horan as spiritual director.
A delicious lunch was made and served by other parishioners. A presentation by Anne Bellanger was enjoyed. It pertained to two of the movies that she and her brother, Bryan, had directed and produced. She spoke about the making of the “November Requiem” and “A Century of Stone 1912-2012,” and the special effects they used in trying to preserve local history for communities and cultural travelers.
Various parish reports were read about future ideas of their organizations to work toward helping others.
The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 1 at St. Raphael’s in Mikado.
