American Legion Auxiliary installs 2014-15 officers

At the June meeting of William F. Weine American Legion Auxiliary, Past President Pat LaHaie installed officers for the 2014-15 year. The officers include: Michelle LaBonte, president; Mabel Cole, first vice president; Gere Romel, second vice president; Pat LaHaie, secretary-treasurer; Jeanette Baumgart, chaplain; Brenda Craft, sergeant-at-arms; Judy Vandervort, historian; and Ursula Purol, Diane Struzik and Kathy Wolshon, executive committee.

The 90th birthday dinner celebration was discussed and deemed a success. The proclamation from Gov. Snyder and the letter of congratulations were displayed.

The Poppy Days collection was very successful even through the final count has not been announced. Thank-you letters have been sent to all the facilities that allowed the event to be held at their place of business. Proceeds will be used to aid area veterans and their families.

Winner of the 50/50 drawing was JanMarie Kendzorski. New member Rose Raible won the attendance prize, which she donated to the Flora Smith Nursing Scholarship. Door prizes were distributed to Gere Romel, Kathy Wolshon, Carol Belanger, Jeanne Polluch, Marie Scagell, Diane Struzik, Pat LaHaie, Brenda Craft, Rose Raible, JanMarie Kendzorski, Michelle LaBonte and Jan Baumgart.

The next meeting will be held this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Post Home.

Joshua Bell and Mariah Purol, Boys State and Girls State attendees, will be honored at a potluck supper on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. The potluck will be held prior to the August meeting.
