There is an informational meeting for any Alpena High School boy interested in playing tennis this fall. The meeting will be at Thunder Bay Jr High tennis courts Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. This meeting is for new and current players. If you are interested in playing and cannot make the meeting please call Mr. G at 464-7332.

The Hillman football team is holding its inaugural 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser on Saturday. Registration will be held from 8-8:50 a.m. at the end of Progress St. at Tiger Paw Park. The race begins at 9 a.m. Cost is $20 per person and $15 for students. Please contact Chris at 255-8001 or Bill at 884-2436 with any questions.

The Dork Brothers are hosting the Fannie-A Open Water Challenge on July 5 at the National Marine Sanctuary/Rotary Island.

This race is a seven-mile open water rowing, kayaking and canoeing event down the Thunder Bay River starting at the Rotary Bridge. It starts at 8:15 a.m. and runs in rain or shine.

Participants must provide a boat. Awards will be given to male and female winners in four age groups in each vessel type. Any entries after July 1 will be $15. Limited edition event t-shirts are available for $12. All rowers must be 18 years of age or older.

Interested parties can fill out entry forms and send it, with payment, to Dork Brothers, P.O. Box 301, Alpena, MI 49707. Race day entry forms are accepted between 7 and 8 a.m.
