VFW 2496 Ladies Auxiliary conducts monthly meeting

Ernest G. Shreeves VFW 2496 Ladies Auxiliary met recently with new President Sarah James presiding and 14 members in attendance. All officers were in their chairs except for the guard, which was filled by Veronica Brown.

Petitions for membership were received from Jennifer Goodrich and Sherry Brown. An initiation was held for Laurie Deuyour.

Larry Marcehlewski asked for help from the auxiliary on July 18 at the Brown Trout Festival. There will be a poker tournament from 2-4 p.m. and a fish fry from 4-8 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be available.

It was announced an audit will be done Aug. 12 by the district, and all books need to be available for that meeting. The auxiliary held a picnic June 13 at the post. It also was announced that walkers are needed for the 4th of July parade. Donations are needed for flags on the float.

Sunday bingo concession amounted to $87 for the ladies and Sunday bingo to $2,000. A planning meeting was set for Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. at the post to discuss upcoming events for the next year. The post is now running in the red and needs donations.

A draping of the charter was held for Mary Koseba who died May 26. Members agreed to purchase 50 cancer pins and donate $2,000 to the post.

The next month’s meeting will held July 8. Drawings were won by Gloria Plater and Barb Donakowski.
