Exchange Club installs new officers
National Exchange Club President Tom Karnes recently installed Ray Reynolds as president of the Exchange Club of Alpena.
Other officers installed were: Pat Bowen, vice president; Don Londo, secretary; and board directors, Cathy Blankenberg, Tony Suszek and Rachel Phillips. Unable to attend were Treasurer Gary Rondeau, Past President Mike Kearly and board director Don Duvall.
President-elect Karnes, the mayor and past Lincoln Park Police Chief, noted that next year the Exchange Club of Alpena will celebrate its 90th anniversary. He commended the club for establishing Michigan’s only Child Abuse Prevention Center.
Child Abuse Prevention is the primary mission of Exchange. Exchange Clubs also have activities and programs promoting Americanism, youth and community service.
Reynolds challenged his fellow members to dedicate themselves to becoming more active in promoting the ideals of Exchange in their daily lives and club activities. He asked each member to bring at least one new member into the club.
Reynolds has been involved with the club for the past 40 years. Inspired by his father, Ralph, he cannot remember a time when he didn’t participate in Exchange activities. He thanked the board and officers for stepping forward, and he anticipates an enthusiastic and successful year as the club looks forward to celebrating 90 years of service to the Alpena community.
