On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, her Lord and Savior received Laura Margaret Lewis, 46, of 12576 MacArthur Road, Lachine, into Heaven.

Laura was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., on Jan. 6, 1968, to Ben William and Margaret Josephine (Lowe) Granlund; and, on July 24, 1987, she married Steven Duane Lewis. Laura was a beloved teacher at Long Rapids and later Wilson Elementary Schools, an active member of Huron Shores Fellowship and the Alpena Education Association.

An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels (Proverbs 31:10). Laura was an excellent wife who worked tirelessly in her roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and teacher. She was a faithful, loving wife who dedicated herself to caring for her children and creating a safe, comfortable home. Laura loved her family immeasurably; it impacted everything she did. She enjoyed flower gardening, photography, reading, skiing, hiking, and biking.

Surviving are her husband, Steve; three children, Erik, Kelsey, Jakob; her parents, Ben and Margaret Granlund; two sisters, Kimberly Schultz, Alison (Joseph) Neumann; mother and father-in-law, Russ and Carol Lewis; sister-in-law, Suzanne (Thomas) Knight; four nephews and one niece, Aidan, Kameron, Jesse, Sam, Levi; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday at Huron Shores Fellowship from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Barry Stricker officiating.
