Mrs. Ethel Louise Stevens, 94, of Atlanta, Mich., passed away at her home on June 13, 2014. She was born in Birch Run, Mich., to the late, Myron and Clara (MacDonald) Pomeroy on June 2, 1920. She married late husband, Gayle Stevens in 1940 and together they raised a son. She graduated from Hillman High School and went on to County Normal to become a teacher. She taught for a few years in the Clio area before returning home after her marriage. Ethel was an avid seamstress and loved to sew. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. Most importantly, she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her loving son, Nick (Lonny) Stevens of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Clara Pomeroy; husband, Gayle Stevens; sisters, Kayann Baur; Mary Lou Stevens; and LoisLynn Stevens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stevens will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Big Rock Congregational Church; Atlanta, Mich.; Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Visitation will take place at Green Funeral Home; Atlanta, Mich., on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Internment will take place at Avery Township Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home. Condolence messages may be sent via our website at
