SMITH, June E. (Hartman) of Flint, formerly of Alpena, age 100, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Flint.

Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Second Avenue and Mirre Street in Alpena, Reverend Shirley Ross-Jones officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena.

Those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or charity of one’s choice.

Visitation 10 a.m. Tuesday, at church until the time of the service.

June was born in Long Rapids, on May 25, 1914, the daughter of Martha and John Sanborn, and had lived there on a farm through her teens with her parents and siblings.

She married Ernest Hartman in Nov., 1932, in Alpena, while living at the boarding house at Rockport, which was managed by her parents. Ernest worked at the Rockport Quarry. He then worked at Huron Portland Cement Co. until his death on October, 1962.

She married Floyd Smith on Nov. 28, 1964, in Alpena. They resided in Flint Township all of their married life. He also was raised in the Long Rapids area. He worked at Fisher Body I for 31 years, retiring in 1980, and he preceded her in death in 2009.

June attended Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Alpena.

She enjoyed visiting with family, reading, and was a letter writer. Her love of cooking and baking always made her home a favorite place to visit by family and friends.

Surviving are four children and two step-daughters, Darwin (Shirley) Hartman, Gary (Mary) Hartman of Alpena, Sally (John) Neil of Grand Blanc, Dale Hartman, Shirley (Ed) Davis of Flint Township and Elaine Miller of Riverside, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Hartman, in 1962; Floyd Smith in 2009; son, James; daughter-in-law, Lynn Hartman; sisters, Mary Mowery and Gretchen Brousseau; and brother, Jack Sanborn.
