The News goes digital

With the launch today of our electronic edition app, readers of The Alpena News now have a fourth way to enjoy the newspaper that has served the residents of Northeast Michigan since 1899.

The app, which is available both in the app stores for both Apple and Android tablets and smartphones, makes the entire newspaper available for subscribers.

Readers now can read every story of every page of the print version of the newspaper regardless of their geographic location. Readers can flip through the pages, view the newspaper in gallery fashion or view stories in an easy to navigate grid. Once downloaded the newspaper can be viewed without an Internet connection.

A link has been added to the upper right hand corner of the home page to get additional information, establish an All Access account as well as to locate the apps. A page at www.thealpenanews.com/AllAccess provides both information and links that will help you enjoy The News anywhere.

If you are not a current subscriber, you can click on the subscribe link to subscribe to both the print and online versions of The News.

“The addition of a tablet app was a logical next step for The Alpena News,” Publisher Bill Speer said. “Readers now can access the same newspaper regardless if they are on their porch or traveling far away from Northeast Michigan. We are very committed to serving our readers wherever they may be, and this is a great step toward delivering what our readers expect – wherever they may be.”

An iPhone and Android app remains available for The Alpena News, giving readers an executive summary of the top stories of the day.
