Frank R. Bednarz, 91, of Nicholson Hill Road, Ossineke, passed away at Tendercare/Alpena on Thursday, May 22, 2014.

Frank was born in Detroit, Mich., on April 1, 1923. He graduated from Detroit Cass Technical High School in 1942, and proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, was stationed in the Philippines, and received many military honors, including two Bronze Medals. Upon completion of his military service, Frank and Regina were married on June 4, 1949, at All Saints Catholic Church in Detroit.

Frank received a degree from Lawrence Technological University in electronics. After his retirement as an electrician, Frank and Regina moved to northern Michigan, where he enjoyed the outdoors and was active in AmVets Post #2497 and a lifetime member of VFW Post #3890.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Regina; and two sons, David (Edwina) of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Richard of Alpena. He was dear Uncle Frank to many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, John and Zofia Bednarz; and by four brothers, Michael, James, George, and Henry.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Bannan Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Robert Bissot officiating.

Mr. Bednarz will be buried with full military honors in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
