Alpena JV softball thrashes Ogemaw Heights

WEST BRANCH-The Alpena JV softball team jumped all over Ogemaw Heights early on Wednesday and never looked back, defeating the Falcons 15-1 and 21-6.

Mykayla Price was the winning pitcher for both games. In the opener, she allowed two hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts.

Lizzy Kendziorski was 2-for-4 and Kennedy Lundquist was 2-for-4 with a double.

In the nightcap, Price walked two and struck out four.

Alayna Nugent was 4-for-5 with a home run and Taylor Kunath was 2-for-4 with a double.

Alpena plays at a tournament in Rudyard on Saturday.

On Tuesday, the Wildcats defeated Cadillac in a doubleheader 15-0 and 18-3.

Price pitched three innings in the opener and struck out six. She also had three hits and five RBIs. Jordan Modrzynski had three hits and three RBIs. Alyssa Gehrke had two hits and Taylor Kunath had two RBIs.

In the second game, Alpena scored 17 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Heath had three strikeouts in four innings.

Modrzynski had two hits and two RBIs. Emily Edmonds had two hits and Madison Amlotte and Kunath each had a pair of RBIs.
