ROGERS CITY-The Rogers City softball team improved to 18-4 after sweeping Atlanta in a North Star League doubleheader on Monday, 19-2 and 17-0, both in three innings.

Nikki Radke earned the win for the Hurons in the opener, allowing two runs and one hit with four strikeouts. Logan Fleming, Kayla Fleury and Courtney Streich each had a home run among two hits; Morgan Hall had three hits; Holle Dittmar had two doubles among three hits; Alexa Quaine and Autumn Idalski had two hits each; and Cassie Brege and Rachel Chojnacki each had a hit.

Quaine threw a no-hitter with four strikeouts in the nightcap. Chojnacki hit her first career home run and Brege, Streich, Hall and Amie Grulke each had two hits. Fleming, Dittmar, Quaine and Cassidy Purgiel each had one hit.

Rogers City plays at Johannesburg-Lewiston today.


Alcona finished 2nd in Gaylord Tourney

GAYLORD-The Alcona golf team finished second out of 10 teams on Saturday at The Loon golf course in Gaylord. The team finished one stroke out of first place with a team score of 335. The team was led by Walker Kelly’s 77 which took second place individual honors and Josh Mead’s 81 which took for fifth position individual honor. The team was rounded out by Jacob Riggs best 18 hole score of 89.


Mio 14-7, Hale 2-3

HALE- The Mio baseball team took two from Hale on Monday, winning 14-2 and 7-3.

Mio’s Charles Auten pitched the complete game for the win in the opener. He gave up two runs, four walks, six hits and struck out five.

Kaydon Reimer was the losing pitcher for Hale. He pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up four hits, six walks and striking out four.

Reimer led Hale (1-14, 0-8 North Star League) with two hits and an RBI. Devin Chrivia had a double while Kelby Chrivia and Jamie Belbaugh each had a hit. Mio’s Auten led with two hits.

Chrivia pitched six innings for the loss in the second game. He gave up five hits, two earned runs, five walks and struck out 10.

He had two hits and scored twice. Belbaugh had a hit and two RBI while Tylor Murringer and Devin Chrivia each had a hit.

Hale travels to Whittemore on Thursday.
