SANFORD-The Alcona girls basketball team’s season came to an end on Tuesday as the Tigers lost to Beaverton 68-56 in a Class C regional semifinal at Sanford-Meridian.
Karina Cole led Alcona (19-4) with 27 points, six rebounds and six steals.

“We had an awesome season. I am not sure the best team won tonight but that is the greatness of the integrity of basketball. Our girls fought hard but unfortunately came up short. 19-4 is still impressive. I am proud of them,” Alcona coach Brad Cole said.
