POSEN-Korynn Hincka scored 34 points and Ashley Meyers added 12 for the Posen girls basketball team on Tuesday night as the Vikings defeated Fairview 62-43 to clinch its fourth straight North Star League title.

The win gives the Vikings (15-0, 11-0 NSL) their 59th straight North Star League regular season win and Meyers will end her career having won 53 straight league regular season games without a loss.

Posen led 20-3 after one quarter and 32-16 at the half. Fairview picked up in the third, but not enough to take the lead as Posen led 48-31.

Logan Winton and Katie Ford both led Fairview, scoring 12 points each.

Posen hosts Hale on Thursday

Rogers City 55,

Au Gres 31

AU GRES- The Rogers City girls basketball team improved to 9-3 with a 55-31 win over Au Gres on Tuesday.

Courtney Streich led the Hurons with 16 points and Logan Fleming added 13.

Rogers City started their lead early taking a 19-6 lead after one quarter, 33-16 at halftime and 43-18 after three quarters.

The Hurons play at Oscoda this Thursday.

Alcona 70, Tawas 55

TAWAS- Torie Harmon scored 17 points for the Alcona girls basketball team on Tuesday, helping the Tigers beat Tawas 70-55.

Jenna Szostak led Tawas with 25 points.

Tawas had a narrow 23-19 lead over Alcona after one quarter and led 33-31 at halftime. Alcona took a 54-41 lead after three quarters and kept the lead from there.

Karina Cole added 16 points and nine rebounds for Alcona and Sydney Pierce added 14 points and eight rebounds.

“That is the team we’ve been looking for all year. We played the best team basketball of the season and the game put us back on track,” Alcona coach Brad Cole said.

Onaway 51, Mancelona 32

MANCELONA- Erika Price scored 18 points for the Onaway girls basketball team as the Cardinals defeated Mancelona 51-32 on Tuesday.

Devin Bristley added 10 points to the board for the Cardinals (7-7, 5-5 Ski Valley).

Onaway led throughout the game. The Cardinals led 29-11 at the half and 42-25 after three quarters.

The Cardinals play in Indian River on Thursday.


Atlanta 41, Oscoda 36

ATLANTA-Taylor Juergens scored 15 points and the Atlanta boys basketball team defeated Oscoda 41-36 on Tuesday.

Oscoda led 25-13 at the half and 32-26 after three quarters. Atlanta picked up the game with a 15-point rush in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Atlanta plays against Whittemore-Prescott on Monday.

Hillman 71, Hale 35

HILLMAN- Brendan Zimmer scored a career high 18 points and added 11 rebounds and the Hillman boys basketball team topped Hale 71-35 on Tuesday.

Mason VanPamel added 16 for Hillman (12-1, 8-0 NSL) and Ty Jones added 11

“We got off and running early again with a 22-5 lead in the first and a 38-11 halftime lead. Eight games in a row that we’ve won. We’re cruising here.” Hillman coach Eric Muszynski said.

Hillman plays Whittemore-Prescott at home on Friday.

Mio 53, Lake City 35

LAKE CITY-Ben Lubitz scored 16 points and four Mio players reached double figures as the Thunderbolts topped Lake City 53-35 on Tuesday.

Bryce DeGrammont added 15 points for Mio (11-1) and Seth Thomey and Aaron Georgieff added 10 points.

Mio led 16-13 after one quarter and 28-17 at the half.

Lucas Marion led Lake City with 12 points and Kevin Kunkel added 11.

Mio hosts Alcona on Friday.
