ACC?men beat Macomb, Lumberjack women lose

WARREN-The ACC men’s basketball picked up a big 69-63 win over Eastern Conference rival Macomb on Monday, after trailing 32-23 at the end of the first half.

“We played great defense tonight and they ran some real good offense. The bench really came out and played awesome tonight,” ACC coach Frank McCourt said.

ACC (4-10, 2-4 Eastern Conference) was led by Travon Howard. Howard had a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Kharri Dailey hit 19 points while Stephen Shepherd had 10 rebounds.

Macomb’s LaVelle McKnight had 12 points while DeJuan Henderson had 10.

ACC hosts Wayne on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

BASKETBALL

Macomb 85, Alpena 44

WARREN-The Alpena Community College women’s basketball team fell to Macomb 85-44 in an Eastern Conference game on Monday.

Ashleigh Monticello led ACC (5-8, 2-4 MCCAA Eastern) with 13 points and seven rebounds and Whitney Frazier added 12 points and seven rebounds.

“The girls played well. We kind of shriveled up on defense in the 2nd half, but the girls played well,” ACC coach Bobby Allen said.
