Street Cats win 8-7 against Soo

The Alpena Street Cats earned an 8-7 home victory on Friday, holding off a comeback attempt by the Soo Firehawks at Northern Lights Arena.

The Cats took a quick 4-0 lead in the first period, with Andrei Yanovich scoring the fourth goal of the period at 18:12.

Yanovich scored one goal and had two assists.

The Firehawks’ comeback gave them a 7-6 in the second period, but the Street Cats were able to score two more goals for the win.

The leading scorer for Alpena was Sergey Deev, who scored two goals and had two assists.

Other scorers for the Street Cats included Andrei Kiselev with one goal and an assist and Vladislav Khasanov had two one and two assists.

Pavel Bocharov earned a goal for the Cats as did Savelii Skurikhin. Skurikhin was Alpena’s assist leader and Vladimir Mokrousov had one assist.

Goalie Vlad Salangin had 37 saves for the Street Cats.

The Street Cats finish off their home series tonight at 7 p.m. against the Firehawks. Tonight is also Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
