Street Cats hosting Firehawks at NLA

After two weeks on the road, the Alpena Street Cats return home to Northern Lights Arena tonight for a two-game series with the Soo Firehawks.

Both games start at 7 p.m.

Alpena (4-3) split a pair of games with the Firehawks last weekend. The Street Cats led nearly all of Friday’s game by Nicholas Murphy led a Soo comeback to help the Firehawks win 6-5. The Street Cats rebounded with a 5-1 win on Saturday, lighting the lamp four times in less than three minutes in the third period to pull away from Soo.

Alpena goaltender Vlad Graevski (2.61 goals against average, .935 save percentage) has been stellar in seven starts, but he might have his hands full tonight trying to stop Murphy, who leads the Midwest Junior Hockey League with 28 points (18-10) and four game-winning goals.

The team will be holding special events for this weekend’s games. Tonight is Spooktacular Costume Contest. Come to game dressed in costume for a chance to win a prize. Saturday night is Brest Cancer Awareness night. The team encourages all in attendance to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. The team will be auctioning off autographed pink mini sticks.
