Wildcats swept by Traverse City West

TRAVERSE CITY-The Alpena volleyball team gave Traverse City West a fight on Monday, but couldn’t slow down the Big North Conference-leading Titans and lost in three sets, 15-25, 19-25 and 22-25.

Alpena was knotted with the Titans at 20 in the third set before West pulled away.

“We played very competitively. The girls had a great digging night,” Alpena coach Melissa Doubek said.

Taylor Genschaw led Alpena with seven kills and 13 digs; Logan Myers had 10 digs and Mikaela Overton and Olivia Cordes each had seven. Emma Strong had three kills and Alexis Smith had 14 assists.

Alpena plays at Gaylord on Wednesday.
