Street Cats drop two games to TC Hounds
TRAVERSE CITY-The Alpena Street Cats were swept by the Traverse City Hounds in a two-game weekend series, losing 6-3 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday.
On Friday, the Street Cats (3-2) played to a 2-2 tie with the Hounds after two periods, but Traverse City pulled away with four goals in the final frame.
Tommy Hrynkiw, Sergey Deev and Vladislav Khasanov each scored for the Street Cats and goaltender Vlad Salangin stopped 41 shots.
The Hounds stayed one step ahead of Alpena on Saturday and came away with a 4-2 win. Alpena trailed 2-1 after one period and 3-2 after two periods.
Patrick Rogowski’s empty net shorthanded goal with 17 seconds left to play, gave the Hounds an insurance goal.
Deev scored for the Street Cats on the power-play in the first period and Andrei Yanovich added a goal in the second period.
Khasanov had two assists and Alpena goaltender Vlad Graevski made 32 saves.
Khasanov leads the Street Cats with 10 ponits (4-6-10) and Deev and Pavel Bocharov each have eight points on the year.
Graevski is second in the league in goals against average at 2.18 and leads the league in saves with 123. Traverse City’s David Krejcik leads the league with a 2.00 GAA and has only had to make 59 saves.
Alpena returns to the ice on Friday in Sault Ste. Marie against the Soo Firehawks for a two-game series.
