Apple Pumpkin Fun Day today
The Alpena Antique Tractor & Steam Engine Club is inviting families to come out and celebrate fall with its annual Apple Pumpkin Fun Day today. The event, which features activities for children and adults is being held at the club on French Road. At 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be capped off with the Barn Dance featuring the Band Phoenix from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Club President Nathan Vojda said this is the fourth year the club has hosted the event and said it is a great opportunity for parents to bring their children out to enjoy free games and events.
“We are giving away free pumpkins to all of the kids and there will be stations set up where we will help them paint them if they want,” Vojda said. “There will also be hay-rides, a petting zoo and games and prizes. It is a great time and just a great way for a family to spend the day.”
Vojda said the event has continued to grow since its inception and believes that this year will be no exception. He said last year there were a lot of people waiting outside the gate for the event to begin.
“The people seem to love it and it continues to grow in popularity,” Vojda said. “Last year I think we gave away about 250 pumpkins and the kids were everywhere having a ball. It is a blast and it has been well received by the community.”
After the children have their fun adults can enjoy a night out taking part in the Barn Dance. The 21 and over party features a performance by Phoenix. Vojda said the event is bring your own beverage and $5 at the door.
“The band plays a lot of country music and a mix of classic rock. There is something for everyone,” Vojda said. “There is enough room for people to dance, enjoy an adult beverage have a good time.”
There will be vendors set up on the grounds and there will be craft demonstrations, as well as an apple press so people can have fresh cider. For more information contact the Alpena Antique Tractor & Steam Engine Club at 358-0380.
