ROGERS CITY-The Rogers City volleyball team earned its second North Star League win on Thursday with a sweep of Oscoda.

Rogers City won 25-11, 25-15 and 25-13.

Jena Tulgestke led the Hurons (13-5-1, 2-0 North Star) with 11 kills and two blocks. Autumn Idalski had five kills, four aces and nine digs. Cassie Brege had 20 assists, Megan Quaine had 16 digs and Megan Brege had 10 assists and 10 digs.

Rogers City plays at Fairview on Tuesday.

Au Gres 3, Alcona 2

LINCOLNThe Alcona volleyball team lost a tough match against Au Gres on Thursday in five sets. The Tigers won the first two 25-22 and 25-19, but then lost 25-18, 25-15 and 25-9.

“We had a lack of focus in the third, fourth and fifth games and were very inconsistent. We lacked good serving and the girls weren’t moving around much,” Alcona coach Kristi Arnold said.

Kalie Zerbst led her Alcona with nine aces. Cassie Carpenter and Karina Cole led offensively for Alcona with 12 kills each while Sam Zerbst led defensively with 17 digs.

Alcona hosts Hale on Tuesday.
