Alpena boys tennis hits milestone in tie with Cadillac
CADILLAC-Alpena boys tennis hit a milestone Tuesday, with a 4-4 tie against Big North Conference rival Cadillac.
It has been at least 12 years since Alpena high school tennis either won or tied a dual conference match.
“This is a great accomplishment for the tennis program, and the boys team should be proud of their play on Tuesday,” coach Charlie Giordano said.
No.1 singles Abram Purol won 6-4, 6-0, No. 2 singles Andre Gagnon won 6-2, 6-0, No. 3 singles Aaron Decaire won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and the No. 1 doubles team of Samyak Harsh and Noah Barney-Steinke won 6-2, 7-6.
No. 4 singles Greg Kucharek lost a tough match 2-6, 6-3, 2-6. No. 4 doubles players Cameron Decaire lost their match 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.
