Alcona soccer blanks Whittemore 7-0

WHITTEMORE-The Alcona soccer team (5-5, 2-0 North Star League) picked up a second league win against Whittemore-Prescott on Wednesday, with a 7-0 shut out, their second shut out win in a row this season.

“We basically controlled the ball all game. They (Whittemore) didn’t get a shot at the goal,”?Alcona coach Tim Munro said.

Alcona was led offensively by?Jason Steiner. Steiner had two goals and one assist.

Trenton Lavergne picked up two goals as well.

Mitchell Havercroft picked up a goal tonight, as did Piet?Botha and Ryan Schultz.

“It was a good game for us, a good league victory. Everybody got a chance to play tonight. I even got the chance to put in some of our freshmen players,”?Munro said.

Alcona has the rest of the week off, but has three road games in a three day period. They play against Standish on Monday, Kalkaska on Tuesday and Tawas on Wednesday.

“That’ll be a great game for us (Tawas) and we’re really looking forward to it,”?Munro said.
