The other side of the local employment issue

I would like to respond to Mr. Patterson’s comment, that appeared in the Aug. 30 edition. There are individuals in this community that are willing to work, but are facing many obstacles that are preventing them from reaching there goals.

One those obstacles is, you have some employers out there, that are discriminating, based on a person’s age. Opting for younger workers. As a older person, we were taught from a very young age, that you get an education, go into the world an work hard. Get married, raise a family. So, Mr. Patterson, please keep in mind, that a college education is not always a necessity, but that on the job training may be a real option.
