A large crowd of walkers make their first lap around the Alpena County Fairgrounds for the first lap of Relay for Life of Alpena County Saturday. They were led by the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center color guard, who helped kick off the 24-hour event with a patriotic flair. More than 400 signed up to participate, and as of Sunday afternoon, they’d raised in excess of $94,500 for the American Cancer Society, according to the event website.
