ARMC promoting active, healthy lifestyle

I would like to commend the participants who attended the Wednesday night, July 17, 2013, Alpena Regional Medical Center sponsored Community Health Ride. ARMC recognizes physical activity as a key component of a healthy lifestyle. Despite the heat we had a great turnout and a fun ride on the Northeast State Trail. Gerry and Trevor from the Cobblestone Cyclery Bike Shop deserve special recognition for their generous donation of the bicycle which made the pre-ride raffle very exciting. ARMC would like to invite you to the next Community Health Walks on Aug. 21, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Island Park and on Sept. 18, 2013 at Washington Street Park.

The upcoming Aliferis events on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Alpena Regional Medical Center will be another great opportunity to participate in a healthy activity at the start of the Labor Day weekend. This year’s events will include a 5K run, an 18.5 mile Bike Race and Tour, a Duathlon (an 18.5 mile Bike Race and 5K run), a one mile run/walk and the popular Tot Trot with Ronald McDonald. Last year we had 330 participants registered.

The Aliferis events, in memory of Peter Aliferis, M.D., have raised over $276,000 to support the Aliferis Scholarship Fund, the Cancer Center, and many important Patient Enhancements at ARMC. Please join us to show support for ARMC and bring your kids, grandkids, friends, doctors, nurses etc. to this important event.
