James and Gaye Lixie of 1074 Hilton Drive, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A blessing of their marriage was given June 29 at the 4 p.m. mass at St. Anne Catholic Church. A reception followed at the Holiday Inn with Father Schaeffer saying grace.
The couple’s daughter, Cindy Martin, served as master of ceremonies and did a Powerpoint history starting with when they were dating until now. She also read memories which guests had written. Guests came from all over Michigan and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Original wedding party members who shared in the celebration were Peggy Stone of Alpena, Linda Hale of Merrill, Vern Michaud of Lincoln, Marlene Casselberry Sutton of Three Rivers and Len Buszka of Alpena.
Mr. Lixie and the former Gaye Mousseau were married June 29, 1963 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Their children are Terri and Jeff Brower of Hillman, Cindy and Rod Martin of Herron, Debbie Sabourin and Brett Hubers of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dina and Scott Mousseau of East Tawas, and Harold Lixie of Alpena. They also have five grandchildren: Janae and Brocce Martin, and Cassandra, Heather and Kimberly Mousseau.
The couple is retired.
