4th annual ATV Rodeo takes places this weekend in Lewiston

LEWISTON – Gas up you’re ATVs because Lewiston’s fourth annual ATV Rodeo next to Tally’s Bar takes place on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s events include a recreational vehicle show with prizes for biggest tires, best of show, cleanest and dirtiest and a cruise around East Twin Lake.

Registration and the show are at 5 p.m. with the cruise starting at 6:30 p.m. The cost for entry into the events is $5.

“Riders under 16 years old must have an ORV license to drive in the cruise,” Fun Country Riders event organizer Rhonda Ball said. “It’s fun for everyone to get out and do a cruise around the lake.”

Saturday’s events start at 1 p.m. with a timed barrel race for ages 6 to adult in the vacant property next to the Lewiston ACE Hardware. The event is rain or shine with registration starting at 10 a.m.. Registration for youth participants ages 6-13 years old is $10, and the registration fee for adults is $20.

“There will be a DJ and food vendor at the event,” Ball said. “Every rider gets a goodie bag filled with sponsor donations, and each youth that participates will get a medal.”

Each class is offered for ATVs and Dirt Bikes with two youth classes, an adult class, a side by side and a 4×4 class, and trophies will be awarded to the winners or each class.

“There’s also a mystery race with a $10 entry fee put together by the Fun Country Riders,” Ball said. “We have 24 trophies to give out. The cost for spectator admission is $5, with five and under getting in free. Everyone is welcome to come sit on the bleachers and enjoy the show. We bring in a lot of people for the events and are the only ATV Rodeo to offer events to children six and over because of our insurance coverage. Usually we bring in around 40-60 riders and over 20 of them are children.”

The rodeo is organized by Fun Country Riders and the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, along with over 35 local sponsors.

“It’s a fun time for everyone involved,” Ball said. “We like to have events for the kids to enjoy and participate in.”
