Rogers City set to host family fun day

ROGERS CITY – Family Fun Day, starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday in Rogers City’s Lakeside Park, is back this year.

Numerous events are planned for the afternoon, Rogers City Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ray Spain said. The chamber is hosting the event, with the help of several local sponsors. Participants also can catch one of the city’s summer concerts at the park’s band shell, and stick around for fireworks at dusk. Each event is free to attend.

“It’s a very fun day with lots of activities, and we hope a lot of people come down and enjoy the picturesque setting of Lakeside Park,” he said.

Kids can play in inflatable bouncy houses, or catch play money in a wind chamber sponsored by Cory Budnick State Farm Agency, Spain said. These are a few of the games planned for the day.

Starting at 7 p.m., TJ Thomas and the Kentucky Strait Band will play the band shell, Spain said. Thomas is a country musician who has performed with big names, like Conway Twitty and the Oak Ridge Boys.

There will be fireworks at dusk, courtesy of Carmeuse Lime and Stone, Spain said. Those at Lakeside Park will have an especially good view.

“Anywhere in the area I call the harbor district, you’ll be able to see the fireworks absolutely beautifully,” he said
