Classroom cruises begin at end of the month
ALPENA – Spring is in the air, and that means it’s almost time for the 65-foot Lady Michigan to get back on the water for her third season of Thunder Bay shipwreck tours.
The Lady Michigan offers an opportunity for classrooms to experience the shipwrecks as well, offering classroom cruises with a 75 pupil capacity. The classroom cruises begin on April 29 and run throughout the year.
The glass-bottom boat provides a unique opportunity for non-divers to view some of the shipwrecks within the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary boundaries.
The sanctuary is partnering with Alpena Shipwreck Tours to provide an array of learning and activities to participating classrooms including exploring the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center and watching a movie in the center’s theater. The sanctuary also offers a hands-on ROV building activity available for $5 per student, up to 30 students.
