Alcona baseball team tops Hillman

HILLMAN-Cody Franklin struck out eight and Joe Hudgins had a two-run double as the Alcona baseball team topped Hillman 5-1 in five innings on Tuesday.

A scheduled doubleheader between the two teams was shortened due to rain.

Alcona scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning after Hudgins’ hit and a two run single from Chad Cole and a single from Franklin.

Franklin pitched three innings and only allowed two walks. Trenton LaVergne and Carson Jamieson pitched in relief.

Hillman scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth after Sheldon Elkie scored on a wild pitch. Elkie was pinch running for Kyle Henigan who reached base on a walk.

Ty Jones started for Hillman, striking out six of the 10 batters he faced in three innings.
