TRAVERSE?CITY-The Alcona boys basketball team ran into trouble on Monday in the first round of regional playoffs against Maple City Glenn Lake. They lost 70-44.

The first quarter saw Maple?City push forward 22-9 while stretching their lead to 43-23 at the half.

The third quarter saw Alcona fighting harder but Maple City was still able to stretch their lead to 63-37.

The final quarter saw both teams score seven. There were no last quarter fireworks left for Alcona as they end their season 15-5.

“I’m really proud of hte kids this year, they played their hearts and souls out. Maple City Glenn?Lake’s defense dictated the game.?They’re very defensively sound and we couldn’t get around that,” Alcona head coach Tim Somers said.

Top scorers for Alcona included Trenton?Lavergne with 11 and Dawson Forsythe. Jared Steiner contributed nine assists.

Maple City Glenn Lake’s top scorers included Mike?O’Brien with 23 points and Carter Lee with 22.
