Capping off national FFA week

ALPENA – Students at Alpena High School concluded their FFA week activities with tricycle races during their lunch on Friday. Members hosted the races, with adviser Barry Rondeau performing repairs to the three tricycles as needed throughout the lunch hour. Secretary and Region VI President Amber Eagling said the tricycle races are one of the most popular activities during FFA week.

Members who wore their FFA jackets on Friday were entered into a drawing to win numerous prizes donated by the Michigan FFA.

“There were a lot of people that came to watch the races,” member Jalen Troy said. “Between 25-30 people raced.”

Troy is the secretary for the FFA greenhand conduct of meetings leadership team and was also the winner of Thursday’s milking contest, for which she received a gift certificate for the campus closet.

Senior Amber Eagling will be running for a state office at the Michigan FFA State Convention on March 7, based on her performance during the FFA state officer interview process at the district and regional levels. The Greenhand Conduct of Meetings leadership team also is competing in the state contests held during this convention in East Lansing at Michigan State University.
