Rogers City wrestling goes 3-2 on Saturday
BENZIE?CENTRAL-The Rogers City wrestling team travelled to Benzie Central to take part in the Benzie Central duals. They won three out of five matches.
They won their first match 48-27 against Kingsley. Their second match saw them take out Benzie Central 48-30 and they beat Petoskey 39-36.
Rogers City then lost their last two matches 39-37 against Reed City and 60-22 against?Mount Pleasant.
Individual winners include Tommy Vogelheim who went 2-2 in 103 and 112. Justine Saile went 3-2 in the same weight division.
Cameron Urban went 4-1 in 125. Jacob Sobeck was undefeated 5-0 at 130 while Evan Lamb had the same record at 135 and 145.
Grant?Popour was 3-2 in the 135 and 145 divisions. Jack Ryan was 2-3 in 152 and 160. Blake Fessler was 2-3 in 152 and 160 while Caleb Pommerenke was 5-0 in 189.
“We wrestled really hard against some stiff competition. We didn’t get into the trophies but we wrestled well,” Rogers City head coach?Pat Lamb said.
Alcona 66, Oscoda 61
OSCODA-The Alcona boys basketball team won its fifth straight game on Friday, topping Oscoda 66-61 in a Huron Shores Conference game.
The Tigers (7-1, 2-0 Huron Shores) trailed 36-31 at the half, but pulled away in the third quarter after outscoring the Owls 22-10. That proved to be the difference as the Owls outscored Alcona in every quarter but one. Trailing 53-46 entering the final period, the Owls outscored the Tigers 15-13 in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t pull any closer than that.
Trenton LaVergne led Alcona with 21 points and seven rebounds. Jared Steiner added 20 points, eight assists and six steals. Carson Jamieson chipped in with seven rebounds.
Alex Lamrock led the Owls with 19 points. Tony Weed added 15 points and Kevin Levielle had 11.
