Posen girls stretch win streak

POSEN-The Posen girls basketball team topped Mio 73-33. This win stretches Posen’s North Star League winning streak to 41.

Posen took a 21-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and 46-13 at the half. The Vikings lead grew to 63-28 after three quarters.

Korynn Hincka led Posen with 30 points, the four times this season she has had 30 or more points in a game. Ashley Meyers contributed 17 points while Anna Couture contributed 12.

Mio’s Shelby Satkowiak led the Thunderbolts with 12 points.

“We had a great team effort tonight. The girls passed the ball well, played good offense and played excellent team offense,” Posen head coach Karl Momrik said.

Posen is now 12-0 overall for the season and 7-0 in the North Star League. It play on Monday when it hosts Au-Gres. The Vikings canceled game against Hillman has been reschedule for Wednesday in Hillman.

Mio falls to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in the North Star League.

Posen’s JV lost 32-27.

Hillman 53, Hale 20

HALE-The Hillman girls defeated host Hale 53-20 on Thursday

The Tigers took a 14-2 lead at the end of the first quarter, and extended it to 32-5 at the end of the half. The Hillman lead grew to 49-10 after three quarters.

“We jumped out to an early lead by using our press. Our press hit them hard all night and the defense lead to opening up opportunities for easy baskets,” Hillman head coach John Kuzewski said.

Jensen Tchorzynski with 19 points to lead Hillman, while Darby Barns lead Hale with nine.

Hillman, 6-4 overall and 6-1 in the North Star League, travels to Atlanta on Monday.

The Hillman JV team also came away with a big win of 50-5. Top scorers for Hillman included Tori Crawford with nine.
